RENTING THE OCEANFRONT "BLUE DOLPHIN" COTTAGE!
(INFORMATION AND APPLICATION)
Treat yourself and have lots of fun! Right now, up and down our beaches, folks are swimming, surfing, shelling, shopping, sun bathing, strolling, boating, biking, dining, dancing, dolphin watching, fishing, kite flying, wind surfing, sand castle building, catching up on their reading, vegging out, and golfing.

Give your family and friends a great vacation, and put yourself into our webcam picture (observed world wide) simply by renting the Blue Dolphin Cottage! You will spend your vacation on the oceanfront, in Surf City, NC, at the very site where our webcam originates.
Our beach cam is in a delightful oceanfront cottage located along the “Golden Mile” in Surf City, NC, USA. The cottage will accommodate six guests and has three bedrooms (queen size beds), two baths, and a kitchen/dining/living great room. The view from the great room is the view you see from the "Our Beach LIVE" web camera. You may see a few representative photo's of the Blue Dolphin Cottage by clicking on "Our Beach LIVE" at left and then clicking on the butterfly beneath the picture.
The basic rental fee for the Blue Dolphin Cottage for the 2008 rental season is $1600 per week. Please read the "Rental Conditions and Guidelines" below to determine any additional fees that may apply to your stay.

Blue Dolphin Cottage
Rental Conditions and Guidelines:
Rental Week: The Blue Dolphin rental week is from Saturday to Saturday (May-September). During the off-season, we will consider partial week (3 night minimum), monthly, and seasonal long-term rentals.
Occupancy: The Blue Dolphin is designed to accommodate up to six persons. Any occupancy greater than that must be discussed, approved, and provided for prior to application approval.
Rental Application, Deposit, and Written Confirmation: Your application must be received and processed thirty days prior to your stay in the Blue Dolphin. A rental deposit of a minimum of 50% of your base rental rate must accompany your application and will generate a written receipt of application. Final written confirmation will be provided only after the final payment, including the security deposit, is made and cleared. Personal checks are welcome but must clear the bank prior to being applied toward rental charges. Receipts will be provided for cash payments.
Check-In Eligibility: Check-in will be permitted only after tenant has provided written confirmation of his/her reservation, proof of age, and a signed copy of the Blue Dolphin Rental Conditions and Guidelines.
Check In/Out Times: Check-in time is between the hours of 3-5 p.m., while check-out time is between 10-11 a.m.
Check In Acceptance of Premises: Any cleaning issues or damages found upon check-in must be reported within 24 hours of check-in. If not reported, we must assume everything is acceptable and in working order.
Renter Responsibility: You must be twenty-one years of age, with proof of age, to rent the Blue Dolphin cottage. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone without proper identification. Tenant accepts responsibility for all acts of his/her own, his/her children, guests, and visitors.
Security Deposit: Rental of the Blue Dolphin requires a refundable $400 security deposit. This deposit is security against any damages caused during your stay. Please report any damage to the cottage upon your check-in. Once you have checked out, we will inspect the cottage to ensure that it has been left in proper order and damage free. The tenant will be held liable for damage, breakage, charges for repair, excessive cleaning, long distance telephone calls, concealed pets, exceeding the maximum approved occupancy, etc., in excess of the security deposit collected. In accordance with the North Carolina Tenant Security Act, deposits are refunded within 45 days of your departure.
Web Camera: A web camera is in place at the Blue Dolphin and is operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The camera view is static and aimed across the boardwalk beach crossover toward the ocean. It is video only and is provided as advertising, entertainment, and convenience of the Blue Dolphin rental families, their friends and Leslie King Realty. The web camera can be seen at www.ourlinktothebeach.com and should be considered “live” at all times. The tenant agrees to accept sole and complete responsibility for the conduct of all persons within the view of the web camera. No lewd, illegal, or obscene behavior or signage of any kind is permitted.
Repairs: We strive to keep all systems and appliances in the Blue Dolphin in good working order for you. We cannot however guaranty against a system failure or appliance breakdown while you are there. Once reported to us, we will make an attempt to have necessary repairs done in a timely and efficient manner. There will be a $75 charge if we call a repairman and there were no repairs necessary.
Departure Cleaning: We require that you have all dishes clean and put away, garbage removed from the cottage, placed in the roll cart, and pushed to within two feet of the street, and all beds made. Everything should be as clean as the unit was when you entered. If cleaning is required after your departure, an extra charge will be assessed. If you desire for us to hire a professional cleaning service upon your departure, please notify us in advance of your stay.
Cancellations and Refunds: If you cancel your reservation, we will refund your deposit only when the unit has been re-rented to another tenant. All cancellations must be in writing. If you cancel and the cottage is re-rented for the full amount, your deposit, less a $30 processing fee, will be returned to you within three weeks of receiving payment of the new reservation. If the cottage is not or cannot be re-rented, no refund of your deposit will be made.
Bedding: Each bedroom has one queen size bed and two pillows per bed. You will need to supply your own linens for the beds.
Paper products: We will have a starter supply of paper products on hand upon your arrival. As paper towels, tissue, etc run out, it is your responsibility to re-supply the various products.
House Parties: House parties are strictly prohibited! We reserve the right to refuse occupancy to a suspected house party and evict tenant and/or guests without a refund. The tenant who made the reservation will be held liable for any damages to the cottage and shall be subject to criminal and/or civil prosecution.
No Smoking: Tenants and their guests may not smoke in the cottage. The owners reserve the right to cancel occupancy plus assess a $250 charge if smoking is discovered in the cottage.
No Pets: Pets are not permitted in the cottage. The owners reserve the right to cancel occupancy plus assess a $250 charge if a pet is discovered or concealed in the cottage.
Stairs: As is the construction standard in this coastal environment, cottages are built on pilings. As such, one flight of stairs is required to get to the living level(s) at most cottages. In some locations, ramps or elevators are provided for access to the living areas. Prospective tenants are advised that at the Blue Dolphin, one flight of stairs is the only means of access to the living area of the cottage.
Telephone Use: The telephone number at the Blue Dolphin is 910: 328-6336. With only very few minor exceptions, the local calling range extends from Wilmington to Jacksonville, NC. A long distance phone call block is normally on the phone line. If for any reason the block is not employed or in effect, the tenant is responsible for any long distance or toll calls of any kind made by any person from the phone.
Rental Availability: On rare occasions, severe storms pass by our coastline and cause damage to structures, power lines, etc. In the event such a storm strikes the area, it may render us unable to make the cottage available for rent. Under such conditions, we will refund your deposit but will be unable to provide alternate lodging or accommodations.
Hurricanes/Evacuation: If state or local authorities order a mandatory evacuation of the area that includes the Blue Dolphin, you are obliged to comply with the order. Upon compliance, you will be entitled to a refund in accordance with the North Carolina Vacation Rental Act.
Errors and Omissions: Every attempt has been made to provide the tenant with accurate information and reasonable conditions and guidelines. However, we cannot be held responsible for unintentional errors, omissions, or changes made by government entities. If any part of these conditions and guidelines are found to be invalid and rendered inapplicable, all remaining conditions and guidelines shall apply and remain enforceable.
